The kids slept in until almost 8. Hallelujah! Their excitement was palpable. Months of work and planning and it all goes down in less than 30 minutes. But it’s worth it and such a magical time for children. This year Rollin was pretty stoked to get a Lego Mindstorm. He also loved his new heavy duty pogo stick from Mom and Dad (he wore his old one completely out) Somehow Santa found Nina the exact longboard she was wishing for. Sela was thrilled about her YETI Microphone (something she’s had her eye on for a couple years) and Evan got several Ninjago Lego sets…a bonus for Rollin because he got to put them together. There were a few other surprises and everyone was very grateful and appreciative.
After cinnamon rolls for breakfast, I started working on a few things for dinner. We ate dinner with the Sharps along with Micah and Rachel and their families. It was so much fun to spend the afternoon with dear friends. The kids had a blast as usual and pretty much disappeared the entire afternoon until Zig, Lisa, and I took them on in a basketball game. As we cleared the kids table we realized most of the them dined almost exclusively on sparkling cider and desserts. No wonder they were having so much fun in there! Come January, the Serafin children will be having a sugar detox. Watch out, Evan is not going to be happy!
Nina loves giving gifts for people. She has been planning and working all month on surprises for everyone. My favorite thing she did this year was write this little poem for Zig. We got a good laugh as some of it was tongue-in-cheek.
Inside his arms he has built in bowling balls. When you see his smile it makes you want to stay for a while. Whenever there is a fight he simply must use all his might to stop it. His hobby is to work on technology. He has a perfect yard with a guard he loves, and the guard chases doves. This man loves Kauai and is the best surfer. Both of his sons act like chimpanzees but it does not matter he still loves his family. He really wants a French bull dog but he is afraid it will chew up his bogs. This man loves to go on walks until he gets a phone call and must go talk. He really likes to ride bikes and also likes to go on runs but he is always hoping no one has a guns. This list could be way way way longer but I have to go watch the man get stronger oh but one more thing before I leave, this mystery man is my father and I am his daughter. He is the best dad in the world and I love him so much.
